Samuel A. Markolf, Ph.D.

Sam is an Assistant Research Professor within the School for Sustainable Engineering and the Built Environment at Arizona State University and a Research Fellow within the NSF sponsored Urban Resilience to Extremes Sustainability Research Network (UREx SRN). His research broadly focuses on applying systems-level analysis to sustainability and resilience challenges facing cities and infrastructure systems. In particular, he analyzes the extent to which interconnected social-ecological-technological systems (SETS) can enhance (or hinder) the resilience of cities and infrastructure systems to extreme events. When not working to enhance urban sustainability and resilience, Sam is likely traveling, hiking, biking, or enjoying the company of his friends and family.
